Just Another Reason I Love AOE 3 !
AOE 3 taps into a lot of interests of mine: strategy, military history, European history, foreign languages. We all know the gameplay is awesome and lets you continually re-invent yourself and improve. It just never gets old; I think that's why we keep coming back for more. But let's not forget that...

Re: How to get rid of the india rush
Good question. I have really only dealt with it as the Germans, and I start by massing some xbows to stop the sepoys. I will throw in a few pikes to keep the sowars at bay; hopefully he doesn't build more than the 4 he ships. I use my free uhlans to harass his villies back at his base. With luck tha...

Re: Strategy forums like ours
Gamereplays.org has a helpful strategy forum that is broken down by civ. Some strats are played-out or well-known; others are very effective. But if you ever want to start a new civ or improve one you know well already, it's a good place to get some new B.O.s

Re: Some general questions
Stealthed Jaguars might be something to try out surely.
Lisbon, you're right... Jaguars are the Aztec answer to massed heavy infantry. I think they have a X3 modifier against them; and they can avoid the ranged fire with stealth. This will basic...
That's why you shouldn't try to raid Japan. Just get in there and tear down his TC. That's the only way you can win.
LOL. I never thought of it that way... maybe that's why I have so much trouble with them; I always try to raid with uhlans or cossa...

Re: Some general questions
Ashis seem to beat everyone; but they are supposed to counter coyotes and they do resist 20% hand damage. If he was in Imperial and you were in Industrial I'm not surprised the coyotes lost. Hmmm, late-game Aztec against late-game Japan is not a pretty picture. Massed maces would prolly be best agai...

Re: beating some punk...
Nicely done! It's exactly that kind of negativity that occasionally turns me off from rated games; that's the reason I like this clan... everyone has the right attitude  I really mean it. My worst encounter with a loudmouthed punk happened in TWC almost a year ago. It was my first 1v1 QS game ...

Re: Ports in Team Games - Early Dragoons
Thanks for the input, guys. I agree that FF would probably be a better option for Ports, but in most team games I play it's all about Age 2 massing, with the battle beginning around 5:15-6:00. At that stage, muskets would certainly be the more cost-effective anti-cav. I do see lots of India players ...

Re: Iro (and sioux) fighting on water maps
There is a good rec right now on Age Sanc that shows the Iros beating the Port water boom. Basically, the Iro spammed canoes and did the water dance to pwn the Ports' fleet, but it took quite a while and the result was not clear until the end. He also kept up pressure on the second (coastal) TC with...

Ports in Team Games - Early Dragoons
Hi everyone. This is my first new topic on N3O so I'm pretty excited  I know almost no one plays Ports in TAD supremacy (only 4.4% of all games involve them...worst in the patch). Still, I've found them to be extremely strong in treaty and in the later ages. Plus I always like playing an under...

Re: Math time
Nice job crunching the numbers; it looks like British muskets should win, but in practice I've experienced the opposite. In several 1v1 games I have elected the double rax musket spam with Age 2 musket upgrade cards against Japan. In each case he defended with ashis and handedly whipped my muskets, ...

Re: Best ways to hold a russian mass unit rush
You should not wait until 8:00 to see how big his army is. I agree with everyone here that you need to get lots of uhlans right away in colonial and bother him from the get-go. I have a good rec of Luigi using the early uhlans, then xbow strat against Russia. Use those uhlans to scout, pick off vils...
Damn it it's getting annoying with Iro,Aztec,Sioux. Any ways to counter the fast rush from them?
I know this isn't the main topic for the thread, but I share your pain about the natives' rush. If you play Germany, here is something I came up with to cou...

Re: Who's the best vs Japan
The bottom line is to make sure he doesn't get that cursed shrine econ going, which is easier said than done. I have had moderate success stopping Japan with Russia, but it is risky. If he masses early nagis and clubs, it's curtains. Personally I like sending 13 strels, training 10 and immediately s...

Re: Countering Russian rush
If you are certain he is going to all-out rush you (most likely he will :-P ) I would suggest getting plenty of cavalry or cav-like units, then ship in some ranged infantry. For example, when I play against Russia as the Germans, I immediately build a stable and 5 uhlans, then send my 9 xbows (with ...
