Good or easy to play? If both, pick India or Japanese.
Re: Good Civ for TAD?
Are the vanilla civs good in TAD (e.g. Britain)??

Yeah, the nilla civs are about on par with the TAD civs, although Japan and India are OP at the moment.
Groovy.

im actually learning ottoman at the moment and i must say i enjoy the abus/jann combo
with abit of micro any noticeable disparity in economy between ottoman and anyone else becomes irrelevant

Re: Good Civ for TAD?
yeah i use that strat to.....but abus are killed way to easy by regular units.
Re: Good Civ for TAD?
drew is the official ottoman expert of the clan, i think he would agree that abus are pretty sick units :] no but really. abus should beat any kind of heavy infantry, just make sure you know how much damage you are doing, so you dont overkill units by too much -> meaning you make your units efficient

A good abus/jan mix is really devastating. Abus do 60 damage per shot to HI and at least 14 per shot (with ranged resistance) to LI. With a stagecoach econ and crates, you can put together a strong army quickly. I rarely play Otto, but the combo that beats me is always well-microed abus/jan.
Abus is also great in team games if you have partner who can cover you against cav.
On TAD civs, I agree with Nav that Japan and India are both OP choices. Personally I think Japan is more OP because they have a virtually unraidable economy... and that's hard to cope with for a cavalryman like me :-P

range resistance isn't applied with abus, cuz they do seige damage, not ranged damage if i'm correct.

That would be worth testing. Abus are tagged "artillery, infantry, gunpowder unit" and their attack is categorized "ranged attack," not "bombard attack." I am very curious to know if LI resists their attack at all. It does seem that abus kills LI pretty quickly, which would lead me to think that LI does not resist their attack. Does ranged resistance reduce the damage inflicted by other artillery, such as falcs? For example, a falc does 100 "bombard" damage, 3X to all infantry. Would a skirmisher with 120 HP and 30% ranged resistance "resist" 90 damage from the 300 damage the falconet would otherwise do to him?

Re: Good Civ for TAD?
As far as I know, travois (WHY did ES make it this way? It's so random.) and building wagons are the only units in the game that actually resist bombard/crush damage or whatever the term for it is.
Groovy.

Re: Good Civ for TAD?
Well, it's an irregularity, but it isn't really a balance issue, so I don't see why they'd patch it.
Groovy.
