Spanish FF

Post by HeJurmhoanni »

This is me doing some Spanish FF against some random guy ( I think 1st lt ) who plays German. He goes for semi-FF and gets few of my vills but he's too slow going to fortress i guess.
Please give some feedback from my spanish ff.
Enjoy! :)

Haha, well done man. I am always told straight FF is risky but you held out and took him down :)

In the current state of affairs the spanish or port straight ff are the only viable ones -- albeit they are still risky.

Seeing somebody reach fortress age before 7 minutes intimidates some people, and they are frightened to attack because they fear the fog.

Hmmmm, German semi-FF should beat straight Spanish FF. If he pressures you with xbows, builds econ and follows you to fortress, lancers are pretty worthless against veteran uhlans, I've found. Rodeleros and cannons, of course, are a nice antidote to that issue!

The Ottomans have a pretty good FF.

I watched that rec few times, and I noticet that my opponent should have beat me easily by doing some stuff diifferent. Like if he would take 700gold as a third card he would age much faster in almost 9 mins.
And my ff isn't perfect. That was a lucky win.
Need to practice more. :)

I hardly ever FF, as I get confuzzled as to what to do next.

On the rare occaison I do, it's usually to take advantage of the military shipments, or erect another TC.

This usually results in me losing...

I've seen a pretty brutal FF by Ports where he cranked out a few Mamelukes - those babies won the game. :)

Good thing about the Otto FF is getting Mamelukes, Spahi, Veteran Jans and then shipping Janissary Combat to have really strong Jans.

Very strong army there, with Age-Up Hussars. GG

Strong but considering Germany's XP trickle is slow, you'll probably need that shipment for units maybe?

Unless you're lucky enough to grab a trading post.

If I can be relatively sure that Otto will FF, I can beat it with a BR FF. After all, the only reason Otto FF's is to get mams or Spahi. If you pop 9 BRs on him and take down those massive shipments, he's got nothing; no econ, no army no nothing

German FF even used to be good against a straight Janny rush. Now, it takes too long to FF for skirms, so that strat is off the table. Gotta go colonial.
