Just Another Reason I Love AOE 3 !
AOE 3 taps into a lot of interests of mine: strategy, military history, European history, foreign languages. We all know the gameplay is awesome and lets you continually re-invent yourself and improve. It just never gets old; I think that's why we keep coming back for more.
But let's not forget that AOE 3 is a very high-end production with great voice talent. I just love listening to the various units' voices. They keep me going. Here is my top ten list of my favorite AOE 3 unit voices... feel free to comment or add your own
1. German culverin/horse artillery ("Jaaa! Ja wohl !!! Verstaaaanden!!)
2. Spanish Musketeer ("Siiiiii !!!! A las arrmmaas !!)
3. Abus Gun ("En rin??" "Heidi bakaloo !!" "Oo-zhoom!!")
4. British falconet ("I mean so !!!" "I wiss!!")
5. French Pikeman ("Ouuii? A l'attaque!")
6. Dutch Skirmisher ("O-Kaaay ! Den orloch!")
7. Iron Flail ("Ching chow ming ling," "Chu-faaaa!")
8. Hatamoto Samurai ("Taka-gai...taka ganda!!!")
9. Organ Gun ("A looo-ta!!" "Qual es suo orde?")
10. Strelet ("Shto? Budyet zdelano!!")
And I also think the Japanese monks sound the most hurt when they go down... the Ottoman explorer, on the other hand, sounds strangely amused when he falls over! BTW: I have to give props to the Dutch and French explorers. When they say "attack," THEY MEAN IT :!:

I very much have to agree with you. However, I think you left off a major voice. How could you forget: Macanbannaniwanna???

I think you're underestimating German skirmishers. They sound awesome. A little bit like Sean Connery or something.
Landschneckts(sp?) also sound awesome.

LOL there were a lot of runners-up... urumis were up there, and of course the female Indian villager ("Macanvinaliwalla") lmao!
NAV: You know I love German skirms. I just didn't want to seem too German-centered in my list! Honestly I think settler wagons sound like some pretty smooth-talking cats with those low baritone voices ("Hallo?")
Glad you liked the list
Here's a special category: WHINIEST--- this one has to go to the Polish Winged Hussar, followed by the Uhlan.

Yes, those Brit settlers sound so friendly... but has ESO ever told us what version of English they are speaking??? I'm guessing it's 1500s-style Middle English, but who knows

I have no idea how you can think of the sounds the units make off the top of your head. LOL.

:-P I think it's a combination of me: (1) Playing AOE3 all the time; and (2) having an ear for languages... I remember the way things sound after only a few times. A lot of times when I watch replays I just click on various units to hear what they have to say When I'm bored at work, they come to my mind!
The last time I was in Berlin, I think I sounded like a settler wagon every time I said "Ja!" to somebody lol.
