Funds???
Strokey,
I am addressing this in a general forum, but I believe you to be the key. Will there ever be a time we consider tile ads or other money raising for the clan through this site? I noticed on the mentor/mentee program thread that there had been 874 views in less than 2 weeks. I don't know the total visits/views etc, that the overall site receives, but is it anywhere near what would be required to start thinking in terms of a commercial venture of some sort???

Re: Funds???
I think if we started doing ads and everything, the site would become more of a personal venture and less of a clan site... if the ads are purely for paying for the site, then I'm all for them. However, I believe that this should be 100% non-profit.
Groovy.

Re: Funds???
I don't care if it makes profit or not, but if the site can be useful then let it be. The person who takes care of the money will be looking forward to get more people in the clan and make the site better so that more people come.

Re: Funds???
Well, I'll give you my view on the subject.
I love the fact that this site is add-free. I love the fact that this site is 99.9% "what it says on the tin", (about AOE).
We wanted a better site for the clan than the freehost we were using, and we have it. I'm pretty sure you'll all agree that it's a hell of a lot better too.
I joined N3O the first day I logged on to ESO with the game, and in the whole time I've been with the clan it has given me a lot in the way of friends, quality leisure time etc. So, taking all that into consideration, paying the small amount it costs to host this site is a way for me and craz to give a little something back to the clan.
When we set the site up, the thought of a "paypal donation tag" did cross my mind, but I really didn't think there was any point as it's pretty cheap anyway.
I can't see any reason for us to try and profit from our clan, and to be honest it would feel like it goes against our principles a little bit. (Unless profit went to charity of course).

Yes, how about sending the donations to the help me buy a bigger bike charity? Its a very worthy cause that will benefit me for years to come and anyone else I carry on the back. And as an added bonus I'll be able to give you all lifts where ever you want. ::/

Re: Funds???
Unless we need the money I don't see the purpose. We don't really offer anything besides a discussion between clan mates; this isn't a community fan-site or anything (in which case I might think differently).

If there is ever any money needed, I would consider a one time pay pall donation. But not to much ads please.

Re: Funds???
Just to give my opinion. On my other forum which I help moderate there is over something ridicolous like 50,000 members. Now obviously they aren't all active but we do have lots online at one time which does put a lot of stress on the server. Anyway that's kind of irrelevant.
We have an option for members to donate to the running of the site which means we can then improve it in by having decent arcade games, a casino (not actual money) etc. We still remain a mainly cricket forum but this allows us to branch out. Now for a clan which although big by AOE3 standards, but still has only a small forum, there would be no point in making this a financial venture as there are too few of us.
So I'm pretty much agreeing with everyone else but instead taking as long as women would to say it

Re: Funds???
In my old clan people, who wanted to donate money for the site, gave it to the webmaster via usual bank transfer(?).
But u shouldn't overestimate the cost they have. Strokey just has to go to McDonalds one time less. Then they have the money for the site.

Ja, if there is some costs, then it should be covered by donations from us. No ads plz. Enough said!
