Well Russian Cav Archers are good if you can't hit and run or can't be arsed to hit and run as it is in my case, because of their hand resistance but its not what you really want against raiding cav.

Black riders are still better on my book, same goes to swiss pikes but that's a different case.

Ronin take the cake for best tank unit in the game (behind hatamoto samurai of course), but black riders are faster, ranged, and therefore better for chasing down and effectively killing cav.
