Hot air - Starcaft 2
Hey, Question.
I just started playing starcraft 2. And i noticed while playing that the air coming out of my pc, is really hot. It's not something i ever noticed with aoe3, total war and so. The rest of my laptop wasn't really hot .
For fellow laptop games is this normal?
grtz

on my mx11r3 I have to put a book under it. Get a laptop cooler or something to get the laptop off a table and the air flow going again.

Re: Hot air - Starcaft 2
Wicked is stil hot.
I used a temprature program and my temprature is for my 4 cores around 50 °C in windows. While i'm playing the max temprature was 88°C for 2 cores (85 en 84 for 2 other). When i go to windows with the flag, my temprature goes down very fast ( in a matter of seconds my temprature is back 50 and no hot air). So i got a feeling my fans work. Also while playing the underside of my laptop is still cold, only the ventilator on the left. I think i'm just worrying over nothing.
Is 88°C a high number coma or is this an acceptable temprature? forgive my lake of pc knowledge.
Thx for your advice.

Sounds pretty hot.
WHat processor do u have?
If a INtel DUal Core temperature climbs too high, it begins to throttle so the temp is not climbing anymore

Re: Hot air - Starcaft 2
since it is a laptop, above 70°C can be normal, but late 80's is definitely too hot!
Re: Hot air - Starcaft 2
But it is still wtihin specification
Maximum operating temp for this processor is 100 Celsius
http://ark.intel.com/products/53469/Int ... _10-GHz%29
See Tjunction ( it is the maximum temperature the cores can reach before thermal throttling is activated. Thermal throttling happens when the processor exceeds the maximum temperature. The processor shuts itself off in order to prevent permanent damage.)

I think your temps are not too bad considering it's a lappy and your playing sc2 which can be quite demanding at times. Just make sure you keep dust free and well ventilated and you'll be fine I reckon.

Re: Hot air - Starcaft 2
k i have found the solution i think. Allow me to enlighten you.
My processor came with the program: Intel turbo boost.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Turbo_Boost
I'm not that into ICT, but apperently it can overclock my cores. You can disable (well more avoiding that it works) it easly by changing in the powermanagement the proccesor max usage to 99%. This apperently avoids that turboboost kicks in.
Im not certain if this is the case, but the results speaks for themselfs.
My temprature in windows,etc.. stayed around 50 - 55°C. While playing starcraft the air coming out of my vent was warm, but enjoyable warm. The max temprature of my 4 cores was 74°C en 73°C.
Performance stayed the same (i think)
