Lets say you are otto and bayou or painted dessert comes up. Do you guys think its lame to leave?

If you mean quit, then it's your choice. It's your rank but personally I'd suggest at least giving it a shot. Just cause you don't have a free TP doesn't mean you automatically lose. You can always use that 500 wood for something else.

If you play Otto, you should expect to be at a disadvantage in about as many games as you are with an advantage. Would it be lame for your opponent to leave when Great Lakes, Patagonia, Araucania, etc. pops up?

Besides that don't worry about what people think, chances are, they don't do it very often anyhow.

I can understand why you would leave in those situations...for Otto it's fairly hopeless.

But I don't think there's any real justification for it. Like Cyclo said, it's an unfortunate consequence of playing as Otto. Every civ has stuff like that, although it's particularly annoying for Otto.

Hmm. Thanks for input guys. I just hope they do something in the next patch to reduce otto map dependency.

never give up like that... NEVER.
At least try a double rax rush or native rush (its really good on bayou btw)
Remind yourself you play this game for fun and get the best out of it.

^^ I agree with birth-day boy there...
Just b/c you get those maps doesn't mean you're done. It means it's time to try a new strat. But it pretty much means you have to use the natives to get flexible military units like Cherokee and Seminole, and their cheaper cost helps.

Besides, it could work to your advantage psychologically. Ah, I got Otto on a weak map, no problems here.

I agree it for sure can be done. Maybe its more of a mental barrier than anything. I got painted dessert vs plop in a 1v1 yesterday. (France vs. Otto). Of course france gets strong natives and he had the Tp's but I still managed to squeak out a win. :) Otto does have speed on their side -- they can get a 10 jannie wave out really fast. 4:10 colonial vs. 4:30 for france gives you a 20 second headstart. I would actually have gone for the Navajo + Apache combo (I LOVE apache -- people who have been victimized know LOL), but since plop was france, I passed on the idea.

I still hope that generally the map dependency situation is changed. Maybe slightly quicker shipments. But who knows, if they lower the cost of church techs maybe things will change. Personally I think the villager limit church tech should be removed altogether and everything else would be fine.

On custom games with the 2 min-resign rule, yeah. But I think it shouldn't be a reason to quit, I would give otto FI a shot in that case :p

Well, I am not experienced or good enough player to give advice. I think that it would be nice if you do fight out with bad disadvantage on our side. If you lose, then blame the map. If you win, extra bragging rights for you. :D
