What's your strength/weakness as a player?

Post by 36drew »

In SC2, everyone has strength and weaknesses. I'll get started by listing some of mine:

Strengths:
-keeping money low -- I always spend what I have, or know exactly where I want to spend my minerals/gas
-strats -- I have a variety

Weakness:
-I think by watching a GSL game, that I can magically go and copy a strat... then it doesn't work and I am sitting here saying... oh yeah, I'm not July_Zerg.
-not being flexible enough. Sometimes before a game I decide to strat x, and won't change it no matter what (i.e. zerg doom drop)

Let's hear yours!

Hello Drew!

My first real Forum post here (except from application) :]

My strenghts:
Micro - For some reason I feel that im great at microing. I usually do alot with little.
Decisiveness - Doesnt mean that I allways do the right choices, but when I choose to go one way or another, I commit and do it 100% and not halfarsed.
Turtling - I can be extremely good at defending certain strategic positions

My weaknessess:
Strats - I do not have a big strat library. Of course I can do alot of different stuff, but I usually never have any Real buildorder, which makes timings really bad, and I tend to do similar and even exactly the same buildorders even if im playing z/t/p. I should have lots of different orders for different matchups.
Macro: My macro is suffering due to my heavy microing.
Micro: See weakness for Macro.
Tilt: Something Im allways working on, to not get into that bad mental state that puts me in a seat where my decisionmaking is going out the window.. It doesnt mean that I start hating on someone, its more that my gameplay suffers! :)))
Turtling: Can be good, but not when my enemy takes two extra bases and in the end rolls over me with to high economy.

But im trying to improve and I love to play non ladder 1v1 vs friends/clan members to Really analyse and talk about a match to find out how/why/when!

:D:D Alot of weaknessess it seems, but allways a work in progress :))

Meeh I have a lot of trouble trying to find strengths :P

For sc2

Strengths
- Pretty decent strategy
- Average micro

Weaknesses
- Poor game mechanics
- Which result into poor macro
- Lack of overall knowledge of the game

For AOE3

Strengths
- Good game mechanics
- Good macro
- Good overall knowledge

Weaknesses
- Not that great micro
- Not that amazing strategy

Its funny to see how my strengths and weaknesses are completely the opposite in sc2 compared to aoe3, but I think thats mostly caused by the fact that I dont play sc2 quite that often :D

Strengths:
-Speed. I seem to be able to do everytihng i want to and fast.
-Micro
-Macro (keeping money low, making units on time, making supply etc)
-Playing random. Decent knowledge of all three races

Weaknesses:
-Desicion making. Cant think well when ingame. Everything comes by instinct so if i havent played against some specific build i just make all wrong desicions.
-Playing random. Could potentially be better with just one race.

strenths:

- mechanics: I can keep my minerals low and produce lots of units well. My larvae inject could use some work but it's pretty good.

- getting an economic lead and keeping it: I play all match-ups the same way really; try to get more bases and more workers than my opponent and win by making more units than him (which compensates for my poor unit control). I played pretty much the same in TAD too with british.

weaknesses:

- micro/unit control: I can use multiple control groups for my army and I can do standard micro stuff like kiting but I often make mistakes and lose loads of units e.g. flying my mutas over a group of marines or attacking into a choke

- mindset: as long as I'm ahead or on equal ground with my opponent I'm ok, but as soon as I'm behind I get frustrated and often give up when I still could win. I also tilt really easily and rage quit after only a few losses. I think this is one of the main things preventing me from improving. I'm often too angry to even watch my replays.

- too passive: I often won't do any pressure until I hit 200/200 when in some situations I could've simply gone and won the game 5 minutes ago and now I've let my opponent get into a stronger position.

Strength: I have a pretty good mental checklist as far as macroing goes.

Weakness: I am oftentimes scared to ladder, despite constantly reasoning with myself and logically showing how silly it is to be so. Still can't help but feel that way, but it is getting slightly better.

Deacon.. I can tell you that I have the same funny fealing. I'm a competative person/player, and when it comes to laddering I put pressure on myself to perform the best that I can, but that can backfire. So I really know what you're saying (maybe even if we dont have the same reason for it) :o
