Yeah, even if you get a copy, you can't do anything with it. You even need to be online to play the single player campaign (afaik). I wonder when my copy will arrive. I wonder if they are allowed to ship pre-ordered copies before the release date? I ordered through Futureshop to get my own beta key a while back.

I'll get it Tuesday. When i preordered AOE3 i got it a week or two too late.

My copy will arrive on Saturday. Amazon is already preparing my copy for delivery

No u have to activate Starcraft2 online, but you can play SC2 single offline.
They aren't such big failers as Ubisoft

Rofl, I tried Ubisoft's R.U.S.E. on this free weekend thingy and it wasn't too bad. I thought it was a bit of a slow game without much micro, but the whole infantry, tanks, anti-tanks, bombard planes, transport planes, artillery etc was fun.

Well Ubisoft made a big fail with Settlers 7,. The settlers series is well known in Germany but seldom outside. You can only play online even singleplayer, savegames are also stored online.
The problem is: Connections are failing, Servers are failing, so suddenly in the middle of ur campaign: Game over. Very frustrating.
Though they failed very hard the first months, they even offered three maps as DLC for 3,99 € and players get even angrier :p

Well i dislike that it will be now in future that u aren't able to sell a game (Game will get tied to u by account),because the companies want to make more money. This is for SC2 now, here peole don't make such a fuss about it, because many won't sell it.

Also Civilization 5 will be a steam game, so selling won't be possible, the list will continue like that.

Though i really seldom buy full priced games. Exceptions are usually only Blizzard Games (no WoW), AOE Games and sometimes a new Civ

well u can use my account if u don't get the game in time. I will need it only during evening since i am working and even in the evening i think i will play first SP. The only problem: U are gold/diamond, i am bronze :p

That would be good stellar. Especially since i'm not back to work until the 15th of Aug, and most of my game time is during the day!

Maybe u can even bridge the gap with the demo

I saw on a video about unboxing Collectors Edition that in the box of the Standard DVD people get also a key for the demo of SC2.
This makes only sense if people using the demo key can play online for some games/days.
Else why bother with DRM and Key if u should play a mission/map offline?
But that is only a thought of mine. Nothing official

For installation u can use a Starcraft 2 DVD or download the client (7 GB, i just download english version of the game). With such a demo key u get 7 hours time to play the game within 14 days. So i have here 14 h playing time for you here. Should be enough if u didn't take a ****** store
