I don't play much India, but I've always thought the wood trickle card was better as the first card.

You need to watch the VOD's India mirror match Flooky and Samwize12 there is also another one with H2O (rayan mancl) and Flooky watch these.

Think they are on age sanc 36Drew does the commentary on both games.

1st Card is wood trickle. hope this helps

wood trickle is better as a first card.
Usually my card order is :distributivism, 5 sepoys, 4 sowars, wood trickle #2. There is flexibility in this thought as vs some civs you will want too switch it up.

With India, it greatly depends on what you are going to do that decides your early strategy. 95% of the time, as people have said, you'll be sending the wood trickle as your first card, but from there, it can vary greatly.

First thing to remember is that even though India lacks villager cards, they can still boom pretty well. If you are going to go with a more boomy approach to the game (my prefered way to play India), then shipping 600 wood as your first card and drop a consulate for Ottoman allies and the villagers from there and a bunch of market techs. While doing this you should be able to get continued batches out from a barracks of sepoy or gurka and either defend with MM+TC fire+units if he is pushing or raid around a bit with your units. The most important thing is to never have your units sitting idle. Often times I see two players both just sit in there base and mass and then run into the middle and have one big fight. Try to be constantly moving around, raiding his hunt/coin.

If you are going to play more aggressively, you can either do Agra or ToV and build forward. If he is playing a civ with a good xbow spam or RI of some sort (Dutch, Brit, etc) then ship 4 sowar early and follow with a sepoy/gurka push. From there you will need to probably start to mix in sowar using the 600 wood card. I think often times a lot of people underestimate how important 600 wood can be for India, but it is still a really good card that should probably end up getting sent nearly every game.

Thanks Zuta, that's good stuff.

That is one area where I have been trying to change my playstyle a bit. I have always played very aggresively and would usually do an "all - in" rush 90% of the time. Lately, I have been trying to focus on eco more, I have even been considering semi-ff's now. lol

That is one thing I noticed with India, I can play them a lot like Iro's very early, but can usually lay back a little and still have a decent eco if things go wrong in that initial push.

Thanks again for the great info.
