Sharpe's Havoc, can't remember that one specifically but I've read quite a few Sharpes and they are all excellent. In fact anything by Cornwell is superb, he manages to bring any period in history to life and if you like the time period of AOE3 you should read Sharpe.

In fact I've just finished reading Bernard Cornwell's 'The Burning Land' set during the reign of Alfred the Great and sees Saxon's pitted against the Viking invaders.

Good topic Scoop, a good book can inspire you in many ways.

I just finished reading the last of the Bourne books - The Bourne Ultimatum by Robert Ludlum. Outstanding books and they make the movies look stupid. More so than any books - movie set I've ever read.

I'm currently reading "Die Trying" by Lee Child, and "The Reagan Diaries" which is a compilation of the diaries that President Reagan kept while he was POTUS.

The Coldest Winter by David Halberstam. Really interesting book about the Korean War, and what was going on behind the scenes (politics in Washington, Truman vs MacArthur, Stalin vs Mao, etc) as well as what was happening on the battlefield. Really interesting read, especially with the Korean War usually never talked about much, compared to say Vietnam.

'New Moon' - a 2nd part of vampire and werewolf book series (a movie has already been made on it). I haven't seen the movie yet as I prefer to read the books first before watching the movie so that I can understand what is going on. It is very tough for me to watch movies when I am unable to hear the conversations.

By the way, does anyone know when the 'Avatar' book is coming out? I just to read t first before watching the movie!

Adrian Tsjaikovski, shadows of the apt series. Fantasy series set in a world where all humans have taken on some insectoid aspect and get skills according to the insectoid race they belong to. Ant human are military masters and telepathic. Bug humans are sturdy and smart. Wasps are aggressive and have a mean sting. Flies can ...fly... Mantid humans are superb fighters. Mosquitos are vampire like.
Not a classic but very entertaining reading (there's a lot of fighting going on so you guys will love it even more).

Been awhile since anyone posted to this thread. I'm finishing up a book called "The Doomsday Key" by James Rollins. Great, history-infused, action novel.

Think Dan Brown.....only MUCH better written with better characters and action sequences.
