I do it because it's easier. While i age to Colo i put all SWs on Wood. That counts for 10 Vills and that is enough to get the ressources i need. It's just easier to select 5 SWs by double-click them than selecting 4 Vills and 3 SWs or so. Afaik they gather as fast as two settlers, but on FP goldmines will last longer when SWs gather on it.

SW are completely awesome except for the fact you need 3 SW to kill one bison. That's the same as 6 villagers shooting.

Other than that they gather crates 2x as fast and build buildings quicker than 2 settler would.

ye buhscmann is right, having a sw on crates is better than 2 vills, having a sw on hunts is also better than 2 vills (if you ignore the walking times etc.), buildings is twice as fast, trees and mines the usual 2xas fast too.

i just don't like it when sw gather multiple different resources so after a while i don't know how many of those numbers right next to the resource are gathered by sw or by normal villagers until i check :-(

Oh but do you? :D

Did you know...

- SW have 30% RR as opposed to 20% hand resistance for a regular villager?

- With great coat they have 405 HP?

- With great coat and pioneers card they have 600 HP?

- With a full population of SWs (20) + Guild Artisans Card (+35% gather rate) it's like having 54 villagers working for only 40 pop space?

Now THAT's German efficiency for you 8)

I have complained in the past about several things involving SWs. For one thing, I think they should do double the attack of a single vil. They take up 2 pop spaces, so it's not right they only do as much damage as a 1-pop-space unit. For example, their ranged attack is only 3, which is the same as single vil. It should be 6. Additionally, when garrisoned in the TC, they only count as a single vil. When you're getting rushed hardcore before you have many regular vils, this is a serious disadvantage, since you will proportionately have a lot of SWs, and they don't do double damage from the TC. This costs you militarily as well as economically, since SWs do best gathering, not taking pot shots from indoors. ::/
