Next top civ?

Post by Sporting_Lisbon »

I think that next top civ will be dutch. Ottos should be close too. It will be quite hard to notice what civ is better than what, but from the older tops, iro and aztec were brought down. Germans -1 xbow and -2 uhlans from 3 sw shipment is going to hurt, also most civs got boosted, so getting nerfed while others get boosted is tough. At first I thought that ports would rock, but hm, not sure. Brits nerf is interesting, with houses being worth more xp to the opponent. Map control > brits? I don't clearly see any other civ that could be devastating. Perhaps china with their faster age and monstrous spam , anything else looks good, except for aztecs, I think they might have got over-nerfed (less maces, weaker coyos, weaker firepit?). So I'll stick with dutch, otto china.

Iro is far from top for a while. Spain got a bit of power back, but their fortress age up is still nuts and it will live from protecting the 2 falcs as usual. Sioux is going to be good with its infantry but nothing godlike imo. Russia might suffer with this patch too, they got nothing to face the other civs' boost. Sioux vs russia? Nightmare for the mother russia. Japan is still the same, good but not too good, same goes for India. France just can't be OP, 5% on xp is just countering overall boosts.

Otto with nerfed abus can just go Jans/hus and enjoy eco boosts without the abus nerf, abus can be added later if jans aren't enough anti HI. Seriously, if I have a great eco that can spam 50f 100c abus that are crappy versions of themselves, I'd rather spam the jan/hus combo fear of xbow/pike.

Dutch bank gathering was never nerfed, everyone knows how damn OP and annoying to play against those homosexual dutch can be. 100w is helping the bank feed. And hey, everyone forgot ruyters. Goons got nerfed and these didn't. Skirm/ruyter ftw, helped by the heavy cavalry nerf.

China can reach colonial age with 20 vills. Enough said. (How? Gather wood, or pick treasure and build 2 villages. Ship 3 vills. Start aging to colonial when you have 17~ vills. Make vills while aging. Get 8 vills on wonder and you'll reach colonial around 5 minute mark.) And with a village already made.

What are your predictions?

tbh i dnt think germany is going to be weakened that much by losing 2 uhlans and 1 xbow, just means they cant Straight FF with some Cav Harrasment. i got My Money On Dutch, Brit & Japan Being The Stronger 3

Brits Nerf 5 wood on every house =/ Lbow havnt been nerfed Just Specialised.

And Yumi Are Still Insane tbh. aswell as the shrine Eco anyway

Yes but ashis dont counter cav that well and samurais can still get picked on early on. Don't forget that a manor house is worth 70 xp to those who kill them. That's a lot. Germans now have a weaker colonial push, they were never able to FF in peace unless one left em alone.

yeah on the jap part your right, and they cant get enough konsha yamabushi out either.

but i was talking about the germans being able to straight FF while harrassing the opponent.

yeah on the brit xp thing it would be more worthwhile to take out their houses now.

imo top civs will be map dependent, by that i mean to fishboom or not to fishboom, ottoman were already good on water, now they will be able to do better, same as spain : schooner semi-ff ftw , aztec i feel from reading notes will still dominate any form of water combat, china idk about yet, i like the keshik+stepp army , but can't judge on it's spammability until i see the cost of it , the brit 5 wood house increase i don't understand and can't see it impacting any b.o. or vill distribution except maybe to standardize it , can't remember the other civ fixes but for water map i say aztec , land map i say brits

I think its very closed to balanced and that most civs will have a good chance in most matches.

Woooahh hold it right there! who taught you that word? that word is banned, my friend.

yeah i think skill/luck will play a bigger part than matchup when the new patch is released.

I wanna come back :( with Dutch bein top civ again! People will finally fear me, those who have played with/against my dutch(usually in team games) will know i can be very mean with dutch, Lazy felt my wrath of hackapells one time with the OP dutch gold!

I hereby open the 'get DJDan a new computer benevolent fund' :P
From the OP maker of the OP Sigs, Cleeduz brings maybe some of his best work yet!

I think aztecs might stand a decent chance, and I thought coyotes got boosted? Wasn't their only change getting a RR boost?

the colonial stats for all the aztec knight units was too much imo, no need to nerf those very average units :(

If dutch becomes popular, we might see a lot more FF again!! There are still some good rushes out there though, dunno if they will really be n°1, micro-OP-ness is kinda needed

Otto revolt is bettter than before, beware.

Ports have a very good musk-push, which could be troublesome for several civs, while booming from 2 TCs.

Russia: still very good, 1 cossack is nothing, I fear they will turtle a bit and spam super-AA-musks. Have fun trying to counter the fast running, cheap ******* ;)

Spain: bottom civ imo, but a lot better in team games. My precious Rods :D

France: what sporting said

no sure about the rest, but depending on which civ will be popular, there will be a good counter civ I think.
