Favorite AOE 3 and Other Video Game Music

Post by Kaiser_von_Nuben »

I am a big fan of video game music. Ever since I was a 9-year-old squirt playing the original Nintendo Entertainment system, I have absolutely loved catchy game tunes. It is amazing how long they last in your brain, even years after you stop playing a game. AOE 3 fits in the proud game tune tradition. There are a couple really good songs from the AOE3 soundtrack. Do you have a favorite? Mine is:

I could list dozens of other awesome game tunes from yesterday. Today, I will be mercifully short and say this is my favorite "loading screen" music. If it takes people a while to connect, at least you can listen to a killer song while you wait! Check it out:

If you REALLY want to go back in time, this is one of the best game tunes from the NES... 1989!!!

And for all my fellow vampire lovers in the house:

Thanks for listening. Post your favorites!! I'm curious to know which tunes have stuck in your heads over the years :)

Love the Ninja Gaiden. That game rocked.

Age of Empires II music was so class. It is way better than AOE3's music. I used to listen to that on my CD in my walkman (now I know I am getting old, I had a walkman :S)

Nice additions, guys! That Sudden Strike video was really cool, Highlander; I never played it, but it looks fun.

@Soccer: Nice with the SNES tunes. Here's a SNES fav of mine:

On the subject of game intros, this blew me away when I was 16 back in 1994 (and yes, I am a Star Wars dork :D ):

@ Hydro: Ah, you had to bring up Metal Gear! Here's where it all began... still some awesome tunes, even for 1988:

There is also a tune from the original Metal Gear called "Mercenary." I really want to learn how to do a VOD so I can put this tune on when I call out the Jaegers and Black Riders in an AOE3 game!! You are ready to rock and roll when this music comes on and your mercs have arrived:

@James: I agree. I hate the AOE3 losing music, and the music when you hit the resign button. It's so depressing and makes you feel even worse. I wish you could turn it all off!
