Assigning Settlers to Fd crates right at the start

Just incase there's anyone who didn't realise this, if you leave your settlers alone right at the start of the game they always go straight for the food crates.
I always used to assign them. These days I don't bother.

Unless your Dutch or India in which they go to Coin and Wood accordingly, and also Ottos, I think they go wood first? or i could be wrong i usually task them on wood first.

In vanilla, you still need to micro them to the food crates. I guess they changed that starting in TWC.

My spanish guys always go to teh coin crates (greedy ******* need me to move my hand and micro!)

Micro them to different food crates, because they sometimes run into each other. Playing Russia its important to send your settlers to 3 different food crates. So your vills don't have to walk from crate 2 to crate 3 and you can queue your first bunch of vills a little bit earlier.

always micro at start def if you're russia (1 on each crate), it will save u some age up time and the first vil will be queued around 7-8 secs
with aztecs i put 4 on food crates (2 different) and 1 on wood so I can build the firepit asap and get my first shipment faster

its also important with french to have the cdb assigned to diffrent food crates

Usually I just task 2 villagers on a hunt already, put two on the nearest food crate and put two in the TC, put gather point on a far away food crate, then press N like twenty times lol. The lag at the start of the game also gives you the time to send you scout away.

i've never got the hang of this TC jump but i always have 3 vils on gold 1 on hunt and the rest gathering crates when im playing as dutch
