Need help with Russia

As some of you may already know, I play Portugal in our clan matches. Don't get me wrong, Portugal is a great civ but I feel that it takes a tad too long for me to make any effect and if someone does the wrong thing, i'm done for. Russia is a cool civ that I use in FFA but really have no idea how to use them in rush games. Does anyone have any advice?

Well for starts a 14 vil age up most of the time except in larger team games where you can afford to do a 17 il age up. 17 vil age up really helps boost your eco. Use your cossack shipments, pimp up your strelets as much as you can, Russian cav archers rock and instant musks is always fun! Apart from that look at some BO. Try and learn how to make strelets and cossacks early colonial as its a good combo, to pull it off though go for a 17 vil age up.

17 vill age up if you're playing vs a civ that won't rush you, otherwise go 14 vill since it's safer.

When you're facing Sporting do a 5 Vill age up. Everything else is way too slow.

Normally 17 vill age up > 14 age up. But on some maps its just not worth it to do a 17 vill age up like on Yellow River. When you got 14 Vills out you normally have about 750 food.
