H2O is one of the nicest top players I have ever seen. Lower players are just dying to play them -- and even though they loose it still makes their day. He regularly plays everyone of all skill levels -- truely a class act.

renamed 3x, still invalid :s

edit: I used Google Chrome browser and it worked this time

Rambo, I think the game was lost when you decided to build only 1 rax, no way you can pressure a japanese player fast enough to have a chance.

gg.

How can you compete with that Japanese eco?

I'm normally cautious about sending small batches of slow units behind enemy lines (as H2O did) to pick off settlers. Because, I find if my opponent comes back with a larger army those units can get cut off and slaughtered. You can end up swapping a 600 point army for a settler or two - probably not such a good exchange.

Anyway, what can you say?

Hmmm....

2 Settlers is a (poorer) age 1 shipment.

600 resources is a (poorer) age 2 shipment.

I wouldn't choose an age 1 shipment over an age 2 shipment so why choose 2 settlers over 600 resources worth of units?

It depends on the civ. If it's 2 brit vills, it's not worth it since he may have around 40 vills so it's 5% of its eco. But if he is a civ that has around 20 vills and has an hard time getting those vills back, like ottos, spain, iros, french, germans, india, etc civs that dont have mad booming skills 2 vills can hurt, it's 10% of their eco and allows you to get eco advantage. Losing 5 units for such advantage is good. Getting an early cdb treasure is also a huge difference.

True. Plus the fact that the attack disturbs you and you'll do other mistakes.

Hi. I am by no means an expert, but I believe you could have won this by attacking in his base earlier than you did. Your xbow and pike were attacking shrines while he was still building rax. By the time you took out those 2 lead shrines H2O had ashi spam underway. Perhaps if you had gone into base and not shrines you could have taken down both his rax before they were up???
