Since Friday is Halloween, what is your top 3 list of favorite scary movies?

My top 3, in no particular order:

1. IT
2. Nightmare on Elm Street (watched the first two when I was in 3rd-4th grade when they were new releases).
3. The first Friday the 13th.

i usually am not too interested in those horror movies, but:
"wrong turn" and "the hills have eyes" were enjoyable

i dunno if it fits the halloween-type of scary-ness, but movies like: "The Ring" (ringu) and other japanese master pieces can build up tense like no other movies.

I don't really watch scary movies either but these are my top favorite. The Ernest Halloween movie, I don't know what the actual title is though I like the Ernest movies. My other favorite is a old one that I saw when I was a little kid. I think it is something like Double Troble. I can't remmber the name I just remember the story line is kid acidentaly revives these 3 witch who then plan to capture the children in the town to keep them youthful. Though they get help from a cat who once tried to save his sister from the witches when he was human but failed and they turned him into a cat.

Speaking of cats - Pet Cemetary creeped me out the first time I saw it. I think they used one of Al's cats to play the part

Candyman sent a little shiver down me.

I'm not a big scary movie fan either.

The Nightmare on Elm Street movies are good, because Freddy is FUNNY!

I like old Vincent Price movies, especially The Last Man on Earth, which is I Am Legend in black and white. Cool movie.

Of course, how can you go wrong with Abbot & Costello meet Frankenstein?

And, as far as Pet Semetary goes....the scene when Gage slices throught Jed's achilles tendon is enough to make me squirm just thinking about it. "First I played with mommy, then I played with Jed. Now I want to play with YOU daddy!" Creepy.

Movies I'm deathly scared to watch:

1. Terms of Endearment
2. All movies involving Bridget Jones
3. Pride and Prejudice
Zzzzzzz.

Seriously, I have a bunch, but here's what pops into my head at the moment:

1. Jeepers Creepers
2. The Shining
3. Jacob's Ladder

Worth mentioning: The contemporary House on Haunted Hill and The Grudge.

I watched 'The Ring' when I was about 15 years old and man did that ever fruit with my mind. I find that girls find a man with an axe in the alley to be horrifying, while men find movies that have deeply woven plots that fruit with your mind to be the most brutally horrifying thing imaginable. I get shivers just thinking about that movie.

I like zombie movies, especially: (1) The Original Dawn of the Dead from 1978; and (2) 28 Days Later/28 Weeks Later. The Shining is another good one, along with Hellraiser and Hostel for a good old gore-fest.

That last is a stretch, this isn't really my genre.

I totally agree, and the japanese really master that art very well when they are not shrine-booming

The house on haunted hill also comes to mind, i mean when a guy drowns in blood or summot anyone finds that freaky, of in Silent Hill, the guy with the huge knife or that random things crawling along the bathroom floor flicking his tongue, just straight out freaky!

Yeah, you're right...Silent Hill was pretty freaky. The part with the nurses? Nightmarish.

Well Wolf Creek I think it was that one set in Australia that was a mean little film.

Also speaking of sprit of the season hopefully this works.
