Crazy-ness vs China(ness?)
Well, I get my first game in awhile . Up against a 1st lt using china and the map is himalayas. I go with the 17 vill age up and throw up a kinda forward, kinda defensive blockhouse. Buddy goes for old han and standard amries, with military ships, while i go musk/cossack with military ships. He puts up like 4 castles and halts my attack for a bit, and later goes age 3, but russia is still good in age two, right? Anyway long story short, I win, but he gets the last laugh as he drop tricks me. And any comments/criticism/advice is always welcome.

Re: Crazy-ness vs China(ness?)
ok, a few pointers:
* get a market up early on when aging with 17 vils
* against china, why make so many musks? cossack + stelets do the trick
* avoid fighting between 3-4 castles, castles shoot 45 dmg to cav, if he had microed them a bit, your losses would have been huge.
* taking TP's and map control was really good
* I would go to III faster when you know he is turtling with so many castles, but going grens was a valid option as well
* food production lacked a bit in the end, but the game was yours already.
well played!

Russia is probably the 1 or 2 most difficult matchups for China, IMO.
@chaos - I can play Russia, but I haven't played them in a rated in over 6 months...got boring.

Russia can be handled well if you manage to keep your together so that 5 cossacks don't smash everything, if you can kill the cossacks the 7 steppes can own the strelets and the blockhouse. It requires some micro tho, which is why it's hard.

My sentiments exactly. I played most of my 1v1 rated with Russia, but I found they became boring after a few months. Plus I always hated having a weak econ (stuck at 14 or 17 vils for prolonged periods) and a massive food-heavy army. With Germans and Brits I can always be sure I have a ton of vils to back me up
In any event, I remember China was hard to beat with Russia, but that was pre-patch. They just used to disciple FF on you and kill all your units as you tried to siege their TC.
