Does anybody still plays otto? Drew maybe?

Is the early mosque + upgrade worth the wood at start?
The first upgrade (100 wood) takes forever to pay back, the mosque itself might be ok as mini-TP...

I'm looking to take up Ottomans again as no one really seems to playing them and I played them a bit in TWC.

I don't think the xp trickle is enough in discovery to make it worthwhile. For a 300 wood start I would drop a house and then potentially a market or dock depending on map/strat (and if I get 50 gold for hunting dogs). I would build mosque in age 2 when I need it for villager increase - the xp boom is then just a bonus.

If you get a bonus wood crate, then tp and house and save the 50 wood.

I still think Otto are best schooners boomers in the game, so early dock is good on decent water maps.

Chop 50 wood and build a TP if you need to. You will still age up at around 4:15-4:20. I never build early church. Or a dock of course is a good idea -- just forget the church.

on water maps they will prob be still good with a schooner boom, but I do miss that extra 100 wood crate :/

The thing is: if you do not build that early mosque, you are basically playing with an inferior/nerfed otto (compared to 1.00) so if I'm gonna play them, I want to use the 'boosts' they got, being the mosque and cheaper upgrades

Well, I believe that the mosque gives the same EXP flow as a TP, is more defensible, cheaper, and more consistent (with a TP you could be 2 EXP away from your first shipment and THEN get the 100 exp from the TP).

i thought the mosque was approx 1/4 th of a TP, I should check cyclo's guide for that

Trading Posts: Gather XP (or resources) at approximately 1.18, 2.00, and 2.44 per second for the trade travois, stagecoach, and iron horse respectively. Trading posts appear to give different amounts of XP or resources on different maps (and even on the same map it may spawn differently). However, this effect is due to the length and curves in the trade route (i.e. the longer the trade route, the more XP or resources obtained each time the travois passes, yet it takes longer to pass).
Mosques (Ottoman): Auto-gather XP at 0.4 XP per second (while standing)

Yep. This is correct. Plus you get -6 to settler train time and have an extra 50 wood left over. Which makes maps like bayou...not as brutal.
