I'm going to build my own machine.

Starting with the notes/advice provided in the original thread, Cyclo's spreadsheet, and my own research, I've purchased the parts to build it.

Should come out less than $900 when done.

I hope I don't screw this up. 8O

All that I have to get yet is the case, board, and RAM, which I will pick up at a local store...because it's cheaper. (Unless you count the cost of gas to get there). Everything else was ordered from newegg or Tigerdirect and should be delivered by Tuesday.

It seems your building a rig suitable for gaming yet you don't have time for playing.. ?

Mostly, I wanted to see if I COULD do it. Figured I might as well build one that COULD do whatever I wanted.

BTW...

Case, motherboard, and RAM are in the house.

Power Supply, CPU, Vista, and hard drive are at the local UPS depot.

Video Card is en route.

All is looking good for possible assembly either Monday or Tuesday.

The Antec case came with a note saying they had some problems with a batch of 120mm fans that had been installed on the cases. Instead of inspecting each case, they just tossed in an extra set of fans....win! Now I don't have to buy 2 more for the front of the box, unless I want some LED bling.

LED bling rule light up all of my inside of my desktop .

So, the "static electricity" issue. Is it really important to have one of the wristband things? I've read that just grabbing the case before doing anything is enough to get rid of any charge. And, of course, not touching the sensitve parts of the motherboard and processor, etc...

my rule is basically to make sure ur touching the case at all times, be it with ur elbow or fore arm, the wrist thingie is advised if its ur first time or inexperienced, makes for no skrew ups
