french vs india - good POI micro fights

Hi all I just recently joined the clan and I've just recently started playing AoE3 and this replay was my 6th game online or so I think.

I was up against an india player and last time I fought one of these they early rushed me with proxy. So I make double raxes against his proxy rax caravanesi fortress. This game kinda reminds me of starcraft with all the micromanagement going on allover the map. Theres almost 3-4 POI in this game as he atacks my flank/supply lines/front at the same time and im curiass harassing his suppliers. My apm for this game was around 150.

I end up having to garrison my couriers for quite some time in the beginning while he has the eco advantage over the entire map.

Can I turn the tide of battle? Download to find out.

For me this was my first real good game against a good player and with a low amount of lag.

If you like it I'll start uploading more replays when I get them. Also if you have any tips on how I can improve my game feel free to yell at me.

hey dduz,
you seem to have good play skills :!:

-early game, use at least 3-4 cdb to pick up crates, the sooner you queue that first villy, the faster you can age.
-make non-stop vills until you got 13 or 14 and age up.
-all should remain on food, you had some on wood for no reason
-the 400 wood politician is usually better than the 500 food one.
-don't play the 2 cdb card, wait until you aged and ship an age II card (700 wood, 4cdb or 8 xbows)
-it's usually good to build an early military force, most people rush so be ready around 6 min to counter what's coming
-military cards are usually better than any other card. (you dhipped the wood trickle card instead of 8 xbows when ur base was under pressure)
-when rushed, upgrade you cdb asap in the market, only then the can do some fighting
-don't play the 'team sawmill' card it's only 10% boost while you had exotic hardwoods (20%)
-pikes should better be kept away from all infantry, save em for when the cav comes in on your xbows (or when you can siege stuff)
-also, don't put diff types of units in the same group, in your case pikes and xbows, pikes will take the speed of xbows when moving which is 1.0 slower
-you're french, so make cuirs in III ;)
-in age III, get 2 more TC's up
-protect your vils better, build outposts when you mine/hunt away from your base = this is the main reason you were behind all gamme, you lost too many vils-raid the enemy base more and earlier

these are all small things you should master quicky

gg, looking fwd to the next replay :D

Thanks for the input chaos!

-don't play the 'team sawmill' card it's only 10% boost while you had exotic hardwoods (20%)

I actually have no Idea what different cards do so I really need more help on picking my deck out.

I actually have no Idea what different cards do
Options > UI Options > Show Advanced Improvement Information.

With that enabled, you'll see that team sawmills gives a (10%?) gather rate, and exotic hardwoods gives a 20% gather rate.

By all means, send sawmills in team games as the output will be more efficient, but in solo games, you don't really need team cards.

I agree w/everything chaos said and only will include:

You did a great job scouting.
Get cav earlier when you see he's going gurka's. For the gurk's and you coulda raided from the right side of the map, and he had nothing.

The India guy played horribly. Sat on military advantage, didn't hit-n-run with his skirms, he ran his camels into pikes, didn't get tp's...etc.

For a land deck, I would drop one wood gather card and the 2 ships card. Also, get some more military ships in age 3.

If you don't have many cards I would still have 2 decks - one for water and one for land.

usually, a deck has most of these cards:

age I: 3 cdb, eco theory
age II: 4 cdb, 700 wood/coin/food, 8xbows, 3 hussars, cav HP & ATT boost, wilderness warefare, Adv Arsenal
age III: 1k wood, 8 skirms, 3 cuirs, cav combat, 5 goons, refrigeration, royal mint, 12 swiss pikes or 10 jaegers
age IV: 2 factories, thoroughbreds

for water maps simply add 2 caravels in age II and 1 frig in age III

if you like massing xbows in age II, play tirailleurs in age III
