Honshu?

Post by Soccerman771 »

Wow, this map is fun/interesting. Me and shoot played a 2v2 last night: AOE Game Stats

Funnest game I've played in a while even though we lost. I wish it was recorded. After looking at the stats, both guys we played were at least 100 elo above us. I used the water and out-boomed both of the other guys. The russian was decent, and the brit guy stank. Shoot was in front and got hit pretty had first and lost his TC at about 12 mins into the game...we were pretty much playing from behind at that point. We relocated to the TC 'island' and used our naval advantage to hold them off for another hour and a half. In reality, we were probably very, very close to winning the game at several points. I did learn a lot. Very fun game!

Hour and a half? Ugh. I don't think I can do those kinds of games anymore. I don't have the stamina for that. 30-45 minutes tops for me.

It was part of the reason we lost. After so long, with so much going on, it's difficult to maintain concentration and keep up with everything that's going on in the game. 1.5 hours is about my limit..

I like Honshu. Several strats possible. You can rush, you can do a nice water boom and you can go for the extra island. Nice, nice.

Fun map. Reminds me of a 2.5 hour game I played on Amazonia in which I had to leave. I think the map should for sure be in standard, though many disagree here.

Honshu is awful. No hunts, no space and a free dock (there was no need to further boost water boom civs even more while some have no schooners)? And it also has an island for people to run to? Gosh, I wonder what they were thinking when they made maps like NWT, Rockies, Orinoco or this one.

On 3v3 it may be interesting (hence the RTSL game) but in 1v1 it's a pain.

The only time I played ozarks it seemed to be ok. Dunno why they haven't added it to standard maps.

I hate the map, but I have made some really fun comebacks on it.
Groovy.
