Re: World Cup...getting closer. 7 Days Away!

Can't wait. There are a few teams looking pretty good this year, and saturday's England vs USA match should be a good one. No matter how much I hate to admit, in my opinion the USA are highly underated. They have quite a strong team and they are super fit. Anyone going up against them this year are going to have a tough time.
Having said that, I still have doubts about their technical understanding and that's what will let them down in the end.
That and a defense that's as leaky as a colander...
Their poor defence is due to their lack of understanding.

I'd say the final will be Dutch/ Brazil vs Spain/Germany.
But my little experience tells me you can't forecast things like these

I think it has much more to do with chemistry.

Howard is one of the top 5 keepers in the world.

Our starting D is likely to be:

Onyewu (AC Milan)
Bochanegra (Rennes - France)
Cherundolo (Hannover 96)
and either DeMerit (Watford), Bornstein (Chivas USA) or Spector (West Ham U)

The keeper and the first 3 are solid defensive pieces of their teams and our only real weak link is the fourth who will most likely be Spector who has I admit been terrible lately. If we play as a unit like we did in the 2nd half of the Turkey game and vs Australia we should be able to contain you. My real fear is Rooney. I don't see anyone on our D that can maintain his intensity. Also, here's to hoping Gerrard (who is admittedly my favorite player) and Terry don't play well together once again!

Well I'm just waiting for Rooney to get himself injured or sent off in the first 10 minutes of the USA game tbh. Just seems to be England's luck...

I'm hoping England can make the semi's, though it will be very difficult imo. Trying not to get caught up in the inevitable hype that surrounds England and their chances to win.

If I had to bet on a team, I'd go for Portugal

If I had to bet on a team, I'd be broke, because I know next to nothing about soccer.

An impressive game from SA I thought, but really Mexico were the better team for most of the match and really needed to "put the nail in the coffin".
