Jans have never been the world's best anticav, even when they had 235 HP. When I played Germans, I found pure uhlan spams quite effective against Otto. Plus if you tap their econ a little early, they really feel it.

In this game, the uhlans wiped out the Jans only after they had veteran status and all cards played in Age 3, plus the cavalry cuirass (304 HP, 55 attack). At that stage in the game, uhlans are just formidable. Plus the poor Russian guy was stuck in Age 2 and didn't stand a chance against those--as Lazy used to say, and probably still does--"pimped up" uhlans

i probaly had to mix in some cav archers (better vs cav) and abus (better vs musk)
