I have alot of problem rushing ports in general especially when the TC's are close together which they usually are, my guys are dropping like flies. Since I can't rush them is it best to FF for the stronger units and take them down then?
The fellow who thinks he knows it all is especially annoying to those of us who do.

Use the fast-age poli and send 6 pumas. Take the 2nd TC down as it's being built. Lame, but works.
If you can't get it down and they have shipped CM, then age up to age 3 with the 3 skulls and big button the Jags. He shouldn't be able to keep up with you if you have constant pressure on him.

take mapcontroll, boom and raid, you can use all the herds on the map while the portuguese have to eat berry or use mills. this gives you a big advantage. so only attack if you know that you can win (be carefull on watermaps, when the portuguese defends water with a tc and has some fishing boats, aztec have awesome ships, fishboom also and if needed use the water dance to defeat them on water)

only time as aztec you have to fear ports on water is in age 4. the port will pretty much doo all they can too make it there. if they do - 20 range dragoon , rangefinding carded mortor and heavy cannon will cause you grief. to prevent this you must contain the port , do not suicide rush them if you see colonial militia in their deck , just prevent them from expanding while you take advantage of map control

When rushing Ports, I think its much better to hit their villagers first (Ports don't have villager cards) because even if you do manage to raze a TC, they have another one plus more everytime they advance. Or even hit their houses and screw up their pop and if that doesn't work, keep forcing their villagers to garrison (Ports have a villager defiency early).

Rushing ports is easy. Just don't commit yourself to a battle where you might loose your whole army. Also notice for attack multiplies from the TC that indicate that CM has been shipped. It which case you need to be additionally careful. MM can't ruin the day quite like CM can. You can raid heavily with two groups of coyote and hit and run some villages with maces while you ship 600 coin + 6 puma for siege spam. Just keep the port player bottled up and you will be fine. Just don't FF - it tends to result in an Epic Fail.
