Clan 3v3 on Mongolia - GOTW nomintaion

Post by Blackadderthe4th »

This is an epic game that went post-imp for some players and is pretty much non-stop fighting throughout. Expect to see lots of artillery, a hole host of mercs, uhlans, redcoats, besterios, ERK, ratten shields, abus, cav archers and a whole lot more!

The teams are: Blackadderthe4th (Germans), Macabee(Aztecs), Donik67(Ports)

Vs

LaZy_TuGa(Brits), Donik(Brits), General_Micheal(Ottos)

If we are doing GOTW, this would be my nomination. Its on the fan patch btw.

Nice! More entertainment for dinner time!

I am loving the fact that there are more and more recs showing up. During times like these--when my play time is almost non-existent--it lets me vicariously live through you guys and sate my appetite for AOE 3 !

Good call, Chris. This was definitely an epic struggle. You don't usually see that much artillery in a game; it was pretty amazing. You played an amazing game with the Germans there. You could have gone to imperial long before you actually decided to. ATP is always a good choice on Mongolia; I should do that more in team games, since it is a favorite 1v1 option.

This is a GOTW contender, no doubt about it. I was actually surprised that Lazy, Donik and Michael didn't knock you out when they had the score advantage. They roughed donik67 and Mac up pretty bad in the early game. Even that crushing raid on Lazy didn't stop him from building right back up again.

This was really fun, guys. Thanks for posting.

Thx Ben! ATP is something I have been experimenting with lately so have yet to find a good balance between getting TPs and building units. I feel I need to use it though when I want to spam mercs as Germans as their slower shipment rate makes it hard to get the shipments you need when you hit fort. Also you can set them to gold to pay for all those lovely mercs, which I've only recently started using in earnest after 3 years of AOE3!

Early on when they hit Mac, I was too far away to stop them in time and knew charging back would only result in turning up when the damage was already done and leaving them untouched. I knew I had to do some damage to one of them otherwise Macs base would have been lost for nothing.

Donik and Micheal were determined to take down my TP and TC eco in the north which separated them from Lazy and prevented them from landing the killer blow I think. I wanted to go Imp for a long time that game but I knew any moment now I would need the resources to repel another attack somewhere on the map so I held off.

very interesting game i agree :) surprised u played merc loyalty so soon this game , a german team tactic i like doing is doing a semi f-i and spamming team 5 jaeger ( how i made over 300 jaegers in a single game+saloon ;) ) i like how you fended off the other team off single handedly while your mates recouped . that was the earliest i have ever seen german town farmers sent in a game but you pulled it off very well for a steamroller eco 8) gg wp fun watch!

I don't think it was single handily, I was focused on the north for a long time while my allies held Lazy in the south. It wasn't until we united that real progress was made.

^I'm pretty sure it does. Anything with the tag "Mercenary" benefits from that card.
