Well, the problem with him is that he doesn't do anything with the community or have any outstanding features, like the other pros do. Take for example Naturephoenix. He played Ports, the underdog civ, for a while and his aggressive flooding tactics are his trademark. Grunt is just some sort of faceless god of AOE3.
Yes, for me... this is Grunts one big downfall. He does nothing (that I am aware) for or with the community. Most of the other big names in the expert area can be found posting in help threads, balance issues, posting games etc.
Although I like watching recs from Grunt (when they are available) I think a little more effort towards the community would go a long way.

I have to agree with that but I also have to admit that in AOC I loved to watch his recorded games. I haven't seen a single record of his in AOE3.

There are definitely other experts that are much more community oriented (Daut was barely ever heard from either) but it's not like it's a requirement. Maybe they just like to play and avoid all the "celebrity" BS.

Personally, my favorite players of all time (AOE series for watching recorded games) were Halen, Grunt and Chris (L Clan).

Yup, I've followed his movement on recs before, can't believe how his micro is so good when half the time he is somewhere else on the screen........ stupidly OP.

Parfait, grunt, NP -- from left to right.

If anyone is interested -- this is the WCG 2007 final where grunt plays parfait. This is part 2, at the bottom of the page click on the 1st half to watch it from the start.

Finally finished watching it. I think iamgrunt was slightly lukcy. Parfait was unlucky not to see those hunters at the top and to lose his cannon although that was poor micro on his half. He did give in rather easily though
