Jebus. I'm still waiting for my new laptop to arrive -- though it won't even come close to that.

What did you pay for that marvelous machine?

FYI:
If you do not have a 64bit OS your ram will only show 3.5 Gigs!!!

Make sure you get 64bit!!!

I THINK!!! That if you have an odd amount of ram it nerfs the dual channel.
I just buil this one myself for around $1200

Vista 64
Amd64 Dual Core 5400+ (2.8 Ghz Overclocked @ 3.01 Ghz)
4 gig Dual channel Ram
160 HDD
Diamond Viper hd3870 Overclocked ( Getting 2nd Card in about 2 months)
600W PSU
MSI K9A2 CF-F AMD 790X CrossFire Chipset DDR2/1066 Dual 16X PCIE SATA RAID MB w/GbLAN,USB2.0,&7.1Audio
Apevia X- Dreamer mid tower

After getting the case i decide airflow would be horrible in this thing so i whipped out my Dremel and made a few mods to the case.Added 3 fans and replaced all the stock cooling it came with. Runs at Ambient tempatures! This thing plays everthing iv thrown at it including Crysis on high setting and runs Flawlessly across the board! Second GPU in Crossfire should only add to the over all speed.

Heres a couple pics:

True, In Fact a 32 bit OS will only use 2gig of ram Period. It will see 3+ but 32bit can only allocate 2gig at any given time.

A 32bit OS will allocate more than 2gig of ram. It will recognise 4gig or ram, but will only use 4gig minus the amount used to map other devices with memory or cache, such as your video card. This is why some systems will use as much as 3.5gig, and others will only use 3.25, it all depends how much memory is used else where.

(I didn't explain that very well but you get the general idea).

Why 2x 3870 instead of one 4850??

Hmm, a 4850 would have been my preference too.

I had already got the 3870 before the 48** series came out.Benchmarks on the 2X 3870 vs single 4850 are close enough that i don't feel it will be a performance issue. That and i dont think a 600w PSU will handle 2x 4850 and my goal was to make a Xfire system :) Ill make a 2x 4850 mabey after the new year!
