Iro (and sioux) fighting on water maps

Post by I__CHAOS__I »

how do you fight a defensive civ that booms on the water (like Ports...) ?
Those little canoes are ok at killing fishing boats, but r crappy against euro warships and TC/Tower/blockhut fire.

Iro has the waterdance card, but I find that it's not practical at all, you still need some warships and lots of dancers which is a big investment in age II.

the 3 pirate ships for 500 gold might be a solid option, but when do you gather the coin for it... Iro needs to maintain the pressure on land.

the 2 war canoes shipment is a joke, they are no match for a caravel

Without OP tlaloc canoes, nobody stands a chance against a Port water boom. They just send 2 caravels, line the water with TCs, turtle, and boom. It's one of the lamest, most OP things I've ever seen.

The only thing that even stands the slightest chance is a FF cannon spam with lots of heavy inf and cavalry. Just take him down before his econ becomes too monstrous.
Groovy.

Well, the Sioux alternative would be siege dance and Iroquois have mantlets and rams.

Iro has little chance vs port on water, to compensate that Iro owns port on land :\

Yeah, but then the Port just sits there, booms, and hides behind his lame CM clump of TCs.

Land? Not really, agrarian ways alongside free market wood upgrades allows you to outboom ports. Not to mention ur supposed to be harassing all the time.

Maybe a strong rush might work, but there's no hope vs port on water for iro.

My macro management. He shipped 3 privateers and sieged my second tc with his colo toma/aenna combo. I eventually won water but hadn't hunts and I'm bad at managing a lot of stuff together, as he was a colonel he broke my ports easily.

Native trading post and spamming canoes?

(A guy once screwed my india like that in a 3on3 where I was also india and kept pushing as he water boomed with a crap of canoes from the native alliance. His two allies kept defending until he screwed me totaly with his canoes and later stronger warships.)
