No matter what any1 says the keyboard is as essential as the mouse is with this or any other RTS game. hotkeys essentially help with speed. The fact that Nav uses his "Z" "X" combo makes his TC selection and villager production scheme EXTREMLY quick. Thats precisly what hotkeys are there for. Control groups are just as important 2 the game but are there for a diferent reason. Hitting the "1-9" is much more efficient and alot quicker then double clicking specific units 2 certain tasks. Every player should use one control group for a)cav, b)infantry and c) siege. There are times when I can efficiently move 5 diferent groups through the battlefield. Civs like russians and dutch where ur using pop 1 units means ur possibly controling anywhere between 35-150 units. u dont want 2 double click ur strelets in the middle of the battle and create a huge spreadout group. U dont want 2 drag and drop 3-5 diferent groups into battle either. For any1 that are currently not using control groups my advice is TRY. U dont like it; they seem confusing? TRY some more. Practice makes perfect.

I have my explorer \ idle ville \ military \ tc hotkeys all in a row. This allows me to press four keys in a row and get all I need. I use hotkeys alot because of DM games. I'm surprised at how higher level player never use them?

The trouble for me is that hotkeys swtich with civs I use and I don't stick with a civ for too long (except otto). Anyways, hotkeys are great. Keep using em.
