Or you can ship 5 settlers instead of 3WP and put them on the pit (that way you can get all 10 WP at some point, and you have the 5 settlers too).

Overall, as a strat, the main problem I found was that you give away map control.

As being rushed was a danger, I was playing around with not getting the full 10 WPs, e.g., stopping at 6 and spamming with the XP dance.

Depends on what your opponent's doing.

nah, stopping b4 10 would be useless, those last WP pop out really fast anyway. I get em all out at 5.45 and ship 2 WH as 3rd card. It's still safe to fwd them if you want some map control.

Most players expect aztec to rush early, and since we age up sub 4 min, they will prob be on the defense for a while.

I'd say FS is better because, as Soccerman alluded to, you get the added benefit of faster training all game long, plus generating more WP after getting attacked. In my last rated game in the Skwizz tourn against a 1st lt, my 10 WP did a fine job of killing enemy hussars who were raiding me. He was trying to kill my WP, but they ended up killing his hussars, lol. Even I couldn't believe it. I have the replay somewhere and should post. I might have lost one or two WP, only to kick out 2 more easily.

Once I got enough coyotes to kill his skirms and curries (with 10 WP dancing) he kept saying that the game was "unplayable". It was pretty funny actually.

In the discussion above, I think we missed the fact that Fencing School also makes Warriors train 40% faster from the Fire Pit - they're infantry too. Makes for a good early defence.

Something I've told myself to do, but never remember: throughout the game, build warriors and mix into existing mace. That way, they don't die so easily since they're mixed up with the mace. And, they have great attack. Nice little boost to your group of mace.

Well but they slow down your army and you don't make use of your 4.5 speed ^^

I faced an aztec major some days ago, who sent 3WP as second and fencing school as 3rd card. He could defend my russians rush on bayou pretty easy and overboomed me without any problems. This has definitely big potential cause most players expect aztecs to rush.

(Won't mention that i bet him on silkroad in the rematch ;))
