That's true but I wouldn't count on a successful launch.

They've added dedicated forums to aoe2 hd in aoeo's site, check www.ageofempiresonline.com . The community manager says that there's more info coming up.

Depends what is defined as successful launch for a over 10 year old game.
Guess there are still enough AOE2 veterans out there who buy it instantly

It is 14 years old but it has a huge fanbase and prestige, with the cards played right it could be as big as aoe3 some years ago.

But on the other hand many AOE2 players earn money now. So it is not such a "big" investment as if they would be a teenager/student

I've read that the aoe2 player base is like twice or three times that of aoe3

Ye that is quite possible, many players did not transition to AOM or AOE3 cause they didn't like it

after the zone closed in 2006, voobly (it had another name before, i don't remember it) took over and it started to provide a nice place for aoe2 and aoe1 fans to play.
So yes the player base is bigger, espescialyl since aoe3 is dividedd into many subgroups

17€ is not a big investment, that's the money smokers pay each month for their poison :P
But i think it should cost less, CS:GO, an entirely new game, costed even less.

There are many platforms: Voobly, Gameranger, aoczone.net to name a few

aoczone is just a forum i think, they don't host aoe2. and out of all, voobly is the best imo. taht's why i didn't list gameranger or any other.

here, some before-after pictures comparing old aoe2 to the new one:

Well to be entirely ugly, the graphics are still crap for today's standards, so I don't see how thats worth the money.

it's just a little facelift, they didn't remake the whole game into a new one :P
comparable to the one they did for FF7 in August 2012 on Square Enix Store
