it isn´t only pixelpoints, with elorating it was easy to get cheaters and pointtraders...

Nooo, now I can't track my skill progress with elo, I finally made it above 1700 elo.
Well looks like I may have to begg Cleeduz to make me one of those signs that looks like the elo ones but has fun as a result

if everyone in the aoe3 community who can spare a $ or two donates we can easily keep elo up and running. i personally don't mind donating some money if it helps to keep this game up and the cheaters out. i would absolutely hate to see TAD go the same route AoM-T did. the closing isn't immediate but will happen so their is some time before it does happens. have to wait and see if their will be a large enough pool of people who can help

I'm sure the AS rate freaks will spend their last nickel to keep their 4-digit life worth indicator system running at full throttle :-P

As for me, I could care less whether there is an ELO system anymore, since rateds are a thing of the past for this old-time uhlan spammer 8)

This sentence is the greatest thing I have read in a long, long time. ;)

Not a big deal to me, I couldn't even tell you what my ELO is or close to it. But I understand its place in the game and its value to a lot of people.

i value elo mainly as it is a great tool to prove cheating , my main concern is this , but also for rated games . i play mostly unrated but every now and then i like to stray into the rated world if clanmembers are not online and its the only way to play a game or too , without this tool the cheating will increase exponentially and be a fatal blow to this game

You make a very good point, I almost forgot about that. I always cringe a bit when I start a game now and realize I forgot to record in case my opponent decides he doesn't want to play fair... ELO can save your life in that kinda case.

For 80% of the players, PR and ELO are quite simular.
When I have a match that is way more difficult/easy then expcted, going on PR, most of the time, these guys will have an ELO higerLower then PR.

Elo is just different from PR, recent matches are much more important, but you can cheat it , beating some otto noob bashers that have been on a 10 match winning streak does wonders for your elo.

I only see cheaters on ELO after i have been framed....

I actually use ELO to look for decayed players. Many people show as 1st lts that have decayed from lt col or col. Those aren't fun games...

Those people are also making it harder for me to get to captain...

Good point about cheating proof. There really is no way to monitor it otherwise, is there?

On the other hand, 130 EUR per month is not a crushing sum. Even guys like Voodoo Boss and Gogogogoogmogog could muster up that amount every month to sniff out cheats and keep themselves satisfied with 2000+ ribbons on their digital chests.

I think if the regular community deem it valuable enough then it will continue, it will be funded through the community. If the general mood is that "oh well.... nevermind" then I guess bye bye ELO.

The day ELO shuts down is the day AoE3 loses a lot of players.
