Discuss Implications of these Stats?

Post by 36drew »

I know some people blab on about certain civs being UP/OP/balanced, etc. Thoughts?

Is it for everyone? If yes, it doesn't matter much as it will only show the easiest and hardest civs to play with.

Very interesting. Well, it looks like the Aztecs and the Indians have a major edge, more so than the overall statistics page would suggest. There were a few other noteworthy points: (1) Native settlers have higher survivability than all others...even more than SWs; wonder why? Don't the Iros, Sioux and Aztecs get raided? (2) Old-line mercs (ie, Jaegers) have significantly higher survival rates than regular units; (3) Ashigarus have an extremely high survival rate considering how many are made and compared to regular muskets; (4) Abus didn't do as well as I expected; (5) uhlans are more likely to die than strelets  ; (6) Xbows and pikes are pretty lousy in the life expectancy department; (7) Bowriders are awesome and rarely die; and (8) hussars died more than I expected.

Also, I found it funny that CKNs outlived skirmishers!

Russia tradtionally gets the highest win % overall. I attribute this to the ease with which a relatively unskilled player can overrun opponents at the lower ranks. I remember when I first played QS as a very nooby Corporal, I won 15 straight just spamming strels and cossacks from an FB. I think that happens a lot, and that is why Russia always has a singificantly higher win % than other standard civs.

And late game they get even stronger. Overall, their individual units really stink. They always get killed a lot more than they kill. But the strength is in the spammage... and take your eye off the mini-map for one second and oprichs might obliterate your entire economy. That's how they do it.

these stats are useless imho
people pick their opponents sometimes, refuse match-ups or only lame counter civs etc...
I stopped caring about that a long time ago :)

Well, the easyness of a civ to play would contribute to it be OP, wouldn't it?

I think it's odd, that the native civs do not have many people using them, but their win %'s are among the best. Just an observation...

My explanation: 10+9 maces, coyote combat, 6 pumas, 2 free skulls, converted guardians, 5 coyotes built, 5 coyotes shipped, attack at 5:40; if they're still alive, mass coyotes and maces, send 3 priests, do a war dance. GG.

Russia's easier to play for a corporal than Japan laming because they don't even know of it, that's what I mean.
