I think we call that "a lack of able and motivated competitors."

With 10 000 active competitors is still quite a feat. A person can't just decide to 'motivate themselves' and try really hard and win 35 games in a row... trust me i've tried it before.

Brits have advantage vs Japs at higher levels, it's a fact.

No, Chaos, I've read around and general consensus amongst people who don't just spam "JAPAN OP OMG INVINCI ASHI" is that Brits can get a faster and more effective boom, whilst longbows are easy to mass and effectively counter yumi/ashi.
I'm not saying it's easy, but it's very, very doable.

Well, it's obvious NP is remarkable. At the same time, the number of real "competitors" and not just "people who are regularly online" is a lot smaller than 10,000 people. On top of that, there are a lot of more popular games where even 10,000 people wouldn't be that many.
Nevertheless, he's a great player.

wanna bet they all play japan on WCG?
even NP will
if you watch the replays vs starsky, it's far from easy to beat his japanese defense.

It's irrelevant the teams they play at WCG, point is it's not one of the "dreaded matchups". I'd give any of the top players who actually use brits from time to time a fair chance against the Japan players.

Re: NP is PR 55 on a 35 game winstreak
irrelevant what they play at WCG? That's THE refference imho...
if what you claim would be true, they would play brits at WCG, seriously, there is no doubt about that.
Unless NP finds a new strat with the brits, the real chance of winning is with japan.

I will admit to a slight error on my part I did not mean to initially imply brits had the upper hand as in were a complete counter, the only point I want to get across is that Brits when played correctly can beat Japan and counter all the Japan has to offer in colonial age when played defensively.
Brit vs Jap is a pretty even matchup, the Brit player might have to work harder, or be less prone to mistakes, and that'll be why people opt for Japan.
