Seems pretty deadly 2 me in 1v1´s.

yes it is deadly and for months (even before the buff from patch) i phantasize about using it.
imagine a protoss who is at 2 bases, got 2 collossi out and thermal lance upgrade researched:
your 5 sentries which are at full energy make some void rays as hallucination and the big battle starts. making collosi only,
your opponent would know that it is impossible to have 6 colossi by 9mins or so^^

i also think that with easier acess to detectors it might lose its powerfullness fast, i'm not too sure about it

Did u watch the video, Aaryn?
The hallucination was used only to get vision to the high ground and warping then units from low ground into the opponents base circumventing the bunker at the ramp and demolishing the banshee build.
It wasn't really to pretend that there are more units.
And with patch 1.2 it became more viable because u can get the research 30 seconds earlier

This means the banshee build wont be viable against protoss anymore, or will blocking your ramp take care of this effectively enough ?
