New PTR Patch!

Post by GrEaTeR_KnArLoC »

Info here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmes ... _id=190277

The only really interesting thing (other changes are bug fixes, etc) are the new test maps, such as a rehashed lost temple.

New maps... beauty... actually... now that I look. Aweful since GSL will be a different map pool. Just brutal.

Well ESL has even another mappool because they use ICCUP maps
So it really doesn't matter

Of course it matters. The biggest prize money if all of esports -- they are giving away over $100,000 US on a nearly monthly basis. For these maps to not be part of the ladder is just sick. GSL is part of what makes Blizzard, E-sports, and SC2 the phenom that it is. I would WAY rather tune in to a match where I can play the same maps on the ladder. I guess either way I'll still be buying premium tickets all the time...

I have to disagree here. What SC2 makes big in Europe and America are all the tourneys which are running here and the streams of the top players and casters. GSL most people cannot watch live due to time problems.
And though GSL had some outstanding games, there were far more all-ins than in european and american tourneys. And u see throughout those tourneys also more entertaining games than on GSL. And that is what matters. So those GSL maps matter really only to those who want to compete in the GSL IMHO. And GSL maps are also considered a bit too big right now. Let's see how it turns out.
The two iccup maps in ESL mappool look also quite promising. Saw already some entertaining games on them
Though Blizzard has to do something of course about his stale map pool. I saw reviews of the new maps and some of them look quite promising.

And concerning pirze money: look at MLG prize money. The MLG winner of 2011 will get 50000$, runner-up 25.000$.

I think the more new maps the more fun. Making new maps is the only way to make the game very so that it will get boring less quickly.
