I have to admit that those rating systems can affect your psychological attitude towards a game and they can be the reason for you to try to improve and play again and again. I'm fine with that, but couldn't care less about a rating system in SC2. The community is just too huge. You will only recognize the top players. Personally I even prefer the PR system and the different rankings on ESO over that. The PR system shows your true skill (more or less accurate) and the rankings benefits people who play alot. It has its weaknesses for sure, but it's 5 years old. It will be interesting to see, if the top players will stick to the BN or use stuff like ICCUP.

can't use iccup^^ it's all bnet

i think it will be like in aoe3: with the new communiy site it is easy to retrieve all the data and make your own rating system like the one guy did with starcraftrankings.com. people will look at that

Iccup will be strictly forbidden since it requires a pirate server.

I think ppl will find out shortly after launch that the ladder point increase even if they dont improve, i would love to see options like total rank or something.

I love the fact that you can only play ladder with the quicksearch system which automatically destroys all point traders / nubbashers etc. I dont like the point inflation, but i guess its necessary and its a bit like the decay system, if you stop playing you loose position on the ladder. If you start again you get awarded extra.

there won't huggy man, everything's official now and every tourney where there is money involved has to be played out in bnet else it would be easy to sue them. blizzard finally wants to benefit what they had to miss out in sc:bw ;-)
