I think I could definitely achieve plat, but it's just a matter for me of sitting down for a whole afternoon and grinding through hours of games, which is what I dislike about the ranking system.

Ok played 1 game and didn't have a clue what was going on. I played it a bit like aoe3 and spammed those worker dudes but wasn't till halfway into the game I realized there was a second resource to gather. I'm such a noob at this.

Well prolly skills come if you play the game more ;)
I remember when I started to play Aoe3, I could just beat 2 easy comps. Now that's totally different, so i guess you should just practise.. and practise.. and maybe practise even more ::/

There isn't a "hard" counter system in SC like there is AOE. The thing that makes SC difficult is the speed required in your macro. When it comes to fights, even the top players just drag a box around everything and attack move it in hoping they have had the better macro to field an army up to that point.

Talent but most training.

If you play games 12 hours per day then u can achieve quie something.

I would quit after one week because of boredom and monotony

Simply untrue.

Top players have ridiculous micro in addition to their crazy macro. They certainly do not just attack-move.

Obviously the sc2 top players don't just attack move all the way, I think that Zuta meant that to succeed in sc2 macro goes first and later comes micro, while in aoe it isn't that much like that.

uhm, lets put it like this.

what you say zuta goes for sc1, there were not "really" hard counters used, while in sc2, it's a mix of hardcounters and softcounters.

in sc1 every unit had a purpose, there was no "one for all purposes" unit, all units had a different role. that's why people adore sc:bw so much, the possibilities are immense, unlike aoe3 :-P

14 civs, the possibilities are immense! And I'm quite sure you can get more different units on aoe3 than on sc1... Don't forget mercs and natives :D (The 24/7 musk hus players don't count!)

it's always the same in aoe3, so i don't really see variety.
aoe has a huge versatility in it's arsenal (technologies, natives, cards, civs) though
