Hi Guys

I see lots of familiar faces around here. I could really give a long synopsis of where I have been, but my post would likely be several pages long. Some of you might remember that I was diagnosed some heart issues (mainly a mitric valve with deffective leaflets and some consequent side effects that came along with it). At first it didn't seem to be a big problem, but it was actually more serious than initially thought by my family doctor and cardiac specialist. I had to re-evaluate a lot of things in my life big time and i'm currently on a waiting list for open-heart bypass surgery to replace the valve. Things have settled for a little in the mean time though. My perspective on life certainly has changed and I have been through many struggles over this. My life expectancy will be significantly shortened if I do not recieved surgery. The only redeeming factor is that the surgery isn't so urgent it needs to be done immediately. So long as I get in within the next 2 years I should be okay (so long as there are no complications during surgery).

Anyways, hello! I'm still keeping a positive attitude on life.

Hey Simple! I'm sorry to hear it's more serious than we all thought.

A lot of us have been thinking about you and wondering if you were OK. I'm glad you stopped by to let us know how you are. Be sure to keep us updated. You're a great guy and I'd hate to see anything bad happen to you. Take good care of yourself and stay in touch with us.

The only thing I really know about that is that it's a procedure that's done very, very often and there's a very good success rate. You're a young guy and I'm sure you'll be OK.

Take care of yourself and be sure to keep in touch with us and keep us updated.

Roger

Thanks for the kind words. This is pretty much what I keep telling myself.

I'm really glad that you gave us an update simple! I always see your name on the clan list and it's weird not having any way of knowing how you are doing. I hope things go well for you.
Keep us updated!

Good to see you around the forums again Simple. Glad you like them! :)
Nothing I can add to what has already been said really, only to keep your chin up and take it day by day. I'm sure it will go fine and a few years time you'll be doing anything you want without restrictions.
By the way, what happened to your AOE account, you mentioned on the tourney thread you don't have one any more???

My girlfriend had a procedure similar to that one done when she was about 3 or 4, I think. She has a wicked scar running right up the center of her chest.

Just think, you can have a cool scar like that too!

I'm sure you'll be fine mate. ;)

Looking forward to when you get back afterwards. :)

Thanks also for the kind words Jim. My attitude is relatively positive now, though it wasn't for a while. As for my account, I sold it for $20 Canadian on E-bay when I decided to quit. It was a hasty decision I made as I wasn't in the right set of mind then when I decided to quit.

I'll bet she has a big scar. I've met with a couple of patients who have had similar procedures to discuss options (artificial vs. pig valve) and they have had some pretty unreal scars.

I'm really sorry to hear you have been unwell. I've never met you but I will pray that you stay safe. Hopefully everything goes well for you and you can live a full and bountiful life (with a little bit of AOE in it :D )
