I think the final official tally is 16 inches in 24 hours....a local record.

I had a nice 2-hour date with a shovel earlier today.....I'm more than a bit sore. Snowdrifts 2 feet or more deep.

And, no beer in the house....

Actually, the final total was 20.4 inches of snow from the storm. That's a LOT of snow...although, I was in New York City 2 years ago when they got 26 inches...that was neat. I gotta say NYC is better at snow removal than Columbus, Ohio.

The first time I flew into Newark, New Jersey was the day the snowfall record in NYC was broken in late January 2001. I was 23 years old and had no clue where I was going. It took me 2 hours to drive 17 miles up the Golden State Parkway. I wish it snowed like that here in Texas.

2 years ago, we drove from Columbus, Ohio to NYC. Made it as far as Newark, and spent the night. The next day, we were snowed in. Took the hotel shuttle to Newark Airport, rode the train into Penn Station and hopped the subway up to 57th to where our hotel was. Easier than driving, even without the snow...

And, 5 days after 20 inches of snow fell...

only where it was piled when shoveled and plowed. (and where it has been in the shade, like along the fence.)
