Eliminate the entitlement spending and catering to those that are not willing to work for a dang thing.

Hopefully cut the military spending as well.

Eliminate free health care for those that won't use it thus driving up MY prices.

A myriad of other things.

We're on our way to $23 T in debt by 2016 and no way to pay it back.  This will eventually come back to bite us and we'll end up like Greece.  Slowly but surely, China will be the sole world power.

But isn't social health care better than letting people die for no reason because they were born without a chance to earn enough money to pay health stuff ?

That's not the problem.

They are giving health care to people that don't need it and won't use it.  At my expense.

No one in the US is denied health care.  A lot of the problem is how much it costs.

wait I don't get it. How can people get health care that they don't use ?

Part of solving the problem that it costs a lot, while preventing to deny people health care, is that you have to pay more even if you don't use health care at all. I don't know how they'd solve it otherwise.

How about if you don't take care of yourself, you get zero benefits?

In the US, this Obamacare forces you to either show that you have insurance or purchase insurance.  This is not about people getting healthy and being taken care of by doctors.  It's about cost and giving money to special interest groups - minorities and insurance companies.

Not really, the problems of Europe are lying somewhere else.

Sorry Dan, but that are the same prejudices, u presume we have. The reasons why those states are defaulting, rioting are different:
1. PLease read the definition of sociallism and u will realize that we don't have socialism in Europe.
"Socialism ( is an economic system characterised by social ownership of the means of production and co-operative management of the economy, and a political philosophy advocating such a system. "Social ownership" may refer to cooperative enterprises, common ownership, state ownership, or citizen ownership of equity"

2. This by many US people so-called socialism is functioning in Germany, it is even going so far that 50% of the representatives in Board of Directors are employed people by the company. I didn't hear so far that Germany is defaulting. I don't want to say that everything we are doing is right, but it is functioning in contrast to what some politicians in the US try to tell u.
3. Britain is in a riot cause of the aftermath of the financial crisis. Britain concentrated to much on financial industries and had to save a lot of banks. The money is now missing somewhere else. They don't have an industrial base cause Britain got deindustrialized the last two decades.
4. Spain is failing cause they had a big housing crisis and too focused on building industry.
5. Greek is failing cause the state is simply overly corrupt.

In general southern states have problems cause they didn't use the euro dividende( much less rates for their debts) to cut debts, instead they made more debts. Before they paid high rates but devalued their currency from time to time. This doesn't work with the euro anymore. Now they learn it unfortunately the hard way.
Another thing is that the Central bank main task is too stabilize the euro and they are not allowed to finance the state like in US and Great Britain, where they can buy the debts papers of their respective state

On anohter note: The US has one one the highest costs for health systems but the system itself is much more ineffective than in other countries. I don't know if Obamacare is the right way, but for sure something has to be done to get it more effective.

if what europe has isn't socialism then what is it? whatever it is , the for sure thing is that obama is pushing the usa into that direction and from what we all can see ... that isn't a good direction at all.

health care should be left to the individual , and not be a nationwide mandate from 'big government'. the problems with obamacare cannot be summed up with a few paragraphs , the american government and it's spending has gotten too big , and introducing all this crap on top of an unstable economy will do much more harm than good.

yes , the healthcare system in this country is messed up , but so are many other things. other pressing matters should be given attention and prioritized over healthcare. this country is crumbling apart in more ways then one.

We call it Social market economy and it worked quite well the last 50 years.
And i would like to know why isn't Obama's direction a good one? I don't belong to "the all who can see".

Why it should be left to the individual?

Marco & Dan, I think you all agree more than you disagree and you are only arguing over labels.

What the US is facing right now is that we are putting too much into debt and are spending on several things that we just cannot afford.  Our debt has soared in the past 6 years and we cannot get along in our government to even address this issue.  Both parties are doing more to cater to potential voters than they are to address the big problems facing this country.
