Hi all...

I just read Anne Frank's diary on the secret annex.
Such a sad story of the great lenghts she and her family went to survive WWII yet at last it ended in death all except her Father.
Yet to think the countless millions of others who lost their lives.
This story helped me to further appreciate how evil Hitler actually was.

Has anyone else read her diary and what are your thoughts on it ?

ShWiing.. BuG

L&C did you go inside the house that they were hiding in ?
And did you see the original pictures that anne had put on her wall in her bedroom ?
It's too bad that all the original furniture was removed.
I would like to visit the annex where they were hiding someday.

Tragedy of human suffering. Whats even more shocking to me is that world war 2 accounted for maybe only one quarter or possibly less of all human life lost in or because of wars in the 20th century, at around 50 to 55 million deaths approx.

One of the less known world war 2 tragedies happened in India, where several million people starved to death because the government didn't seem to care. Studying all this stuff last semester was something i really did not take much liking too.

What does that have to do with anything, Tatl...?

By the way, his voice is incredibly annoying. Maybe it's just me.

search for this song: Never Again (Wu Tang Clan)

here's a part of the lyrics:

Rabbi's and priests
Disabled individuals
The poor, the scholars all labeled common criminals
Mass extermination
Total annihilation
Shipped into the ghetto and prepared for liquidation
Tortured and starved
Innocent experiments
Stripped down and carved up or gassed to death
The last hour, I smelled the flowers
Flashbacks of family then sent to the showers
Powerless undressed
Women with babies clumped tight to their chest
Crying
Who would've guessed dying
Another life lost
Count the cost
Another body gas burned and tossed in the holocaust

And to think that there's sick people out there who think it never happened.

I remember in the 9th-10th grade (somewhere in there) we had a former death camp POW come to our school and give a talk about what it was like to be in Auschwitz. He showed us his tattoo'd ID number and spoke about the disregard for life that the Germans had. Very powerful and emotional talk that still affects me.

I've been to "her" house in Amsterdam. Anyone who comes around there should visit it.

I have been to her house & also visited Auschwitz. Rooms full of brushes, rooms full of dentures, etc.. pretty horrific. Really unforgettable.
