:(
To add to Germany's misery, substitute Bastian Schweinsteiger was sent off in injury time.
Not good. Germany had time of possesion, but Croatia had more shot and more shots on goal. Germany/Austria game to advance to the final bracket should be an interesting game..

it's a shame england isn't in the tourney. would be a pleasure to beat them in the penalties ;). Well we sucked today and, very important, croatia is a damn good team with great players and a great coach. think they'll give pretty much trouble to whoever they face in the 1/4 finals.

I'd be happy if Portugal don't get Germany ^^

Schweinsteiger will get one game and if we reach the 1/4 finals, he will be onboard again.

But it seems Austria doesn't want to shoot goals

In a very related note (and to turn the thread in the proper direction) the guy that scored the goal for Austria gets free beer for life from a Vienna brewery...how sweet is that!

*cough* 5-1 *cough* :D

But anyway I'm supporting Germany in this tourney, they kinda won me over in the last world cup.

I don't know about last game, it would be good to not have to germany in this tournament (to many bad memories) on the other side would be funny to defeat germany with penaltys.

Hmm, Germany wins much more penalty shootouts than they lose. When Ballack watched with his portuguese players from CHelsea CL Schalke vs. Porto, which was decided in penalty shooting, he left the room before penalty shooting began. He just said: The german team will win for sure and so it was. ;)

But Germany only needs a draw against Austria to advance to the 1/4 finals.

Seems people like to dream about games when they won against Germany. :p

Austria still relishes glory, when Germany plays against Austria, because of Cordoba when they defeated Germany in World Cup 1978 and it is always said: Now we get a new Cordoba. :D

erm, if Germany make it through, there defence of Lehmann, Lahm, Metersacker, Metzelder and Janson won't make it very far!

Depends, Portugals defense also isn't one of the strongest

If Austria don't have their glory Portugal-Germany will be an interesting matchup, fortunately perhaps we won't get owned the same way we got in 2006 :D
