Re: Congrats Victor....
I watched the whole thing, over an hour's worth, and it just confirms my thoughts about day9, the guy is genius. Truly awesome commentary! The workers repairing the building as it's being built was pretty cool too. Good stuff, and good job there vic, got some nice ego-boosts from the man himself!
UK has no component stores like in Germany where building PCs is just side-business? U can choose ervery component in the store and just pay a fee for building it together like 20-50 Euros
Not really, mostly online shops with a small choice in each ar...
Re: Comp
wel how about those online stores where you choose your stuff and they prebuild it for you for like 50$ or something?
Possible, but even then you are limited to specifically listed components and will have to compromise in several areas as well as pa...
Re: Comp
I'll have a hunt around, but to be honest, it's really hard to find a pre-built system that has all components at a reasonable level and at a decent price. Mostly you will find substandard graphics and motherboards, and overpriced base units.

Re: Thinking of Building A Desktop - Would like some Advice
Not bad, but there is no motherboard (perhaps because of the intel recall?), perhaps change psu, and I would be a little upset spending that on a case and then having to spend another $20 for a case fan. Freezer 7 pro is a decent cpu cooler and $15 cheaper too.

Re: Thinking of Building A Desktop - Would like some Advice
I've been reading about these new edition cpu's, and if you are a little daring, you can make some huge savings by purchasing a cheaper cpu and overclocking it. In the tests I have been reading, you can gain performances that are equal to a price saving of between £300 and £500. (cost equivalent of ...

Re: Thinking of Building A Desktop - Would like some Advice
I would always opt for modular design, even more so in this day and age. 10 years ago it wouldn't matter as there would only be about 4 smallish cables running from the supply, these days with supply hungry systems, a non-modular supply can have a dozen heavy cabling leads and take up a lot of space...

Re: Thinking of Building A Desktop - Would like some Advice
I would take the 1TB drive, very nice drive. Will also be easier to manage than a 2TB drive. I'm liking pretty much all your other choices, I think my only comment would be that the power supply isn't a modular design, but this isn't a huge thing.
