Cheap, easy to produce, and good all-round.

Attack move is also good when you have a lot of ranged infantry. I used attack move once before in a clan 3V3 and my skirms took out 12 musketeers on the first volley. I wouldn't recommend using it when there's enemy cav around because you don't want your skirms shooting cav.

Yeah, I think the best way to improve is to record your games and review where you went wrong - trial and error. Or go to AgeSanctuary and download some recorded games and watch what they do. You can then try to incorporate that into your games.

Natives are also good because they can adapt better than any other civ. If you're getting rushed, just throw the firepit on warrior dance and you get free minutemen.
