I would put French in middle and Chinese replacing the French if you ate playing as a team, Chinese are early attackers as the Russians, but stronger and faster aging. For me the strongest civilization overall are the Japanese and maybe the Indians or Aztecs in 2nd place.

Nice strat!! Sending the 4 and 5 Cossacks as your first cards after aging up should be very useful then send Strelets tu harras his villagers while the Cossacks take care of the Hussars, with this you should win the game in 17 minutes
