Mouse lag
« on: September 21, 2010, 22:13:41 »
hey, i have always played aoe3 on the same pc, but last weeks i'm getting serious problems with mouse lag while playing aoe.

During the game my mouse doesn't react that well on commands. Moving my mouse is still fluent, etc... But selecting a card, giving a command is getting worser and worser. (units sometimes aren't made when i order to), also selecting all units of the same type doesn't work always, selecting  units with a box don't work always.

I have no trouble in windows, my mouse hasn't changed etc...

any ideas?

ps: apperently i'm so upset that i mess up my own post.

hm weird error indeed. can you try another mouse??? this will limit it to two things:
a) your mouse has some malfunctioning
b) your settings in windows or somethign are mesed up

if another mouse works you know option b) is not the case so it must be a)

i have command lag all the time, as bad as 4 sec sometimes, it's the internet connection that caused it, not sure if you might have a similar thing.

movement of my mouse is fluent, their is only a delay for commands (mousclicks) while in game.

I used to have this issue, then I bought a Razor. Best gaming mouse (only gaming mouse) i've owned. I love it.  G5?? might be good too.

So it's just my mouse that is getting older? and it's efficiency goes down in certain high apm programs?

or.. i think i know why. go to your graphic driver utility and then change the pre render frame rate (should be 2 or 3).
there is also something called "smoothen mouse movement", either in the game you play or by a program that should force this.

definitely try another mouse first

Best solution right there, ball mouse really sucks bad, even when working well.

I think a half decent wired laser mouse will blow you away then.
